“Gravel pit” is a project that explores architectural and landscape typology. The project takes its starting point in the large void left behind when the extraction of raw materials has ended. What is initially seen as a landscape trauma becomes a potential for new spatial and architectural possibilities.

The site is imagined as a generic Danish gravel pit, used as a framework for investigating the relationship between landscape, material and the body. Through a series of phases, the project developed from fieldwork and material studies into spatial excavations, drawings and architectural interventions.
