05 workspace

Space, Light and Construction | 1st semester | 2025

Workspace explored the relationship between space, light, movement and construction through the design of a small workshop for a specialised craftsperson. My project was designed for a stone carver, with the workshop shaped around the physical and material demands of working with stone.

The project developed through three phases. The first focused on the experience of space, light and movement from within. The second explored grid and construction through a timber frame structure, investigating the relationship between light and heavy elements. In the final phase, the focus shifted towards the connection between the interior and exterior, as the workshop was placed alongside a neighbouring workspace and a shared landscape.

Through drawings and 1:20 models, the project investigated how structure, proportion, material and daylight can shape both the atmosphere and function of a small working space.
